Relax&Move

We were very disappointed with the service provided by Conway and his employee. After pointing out everything in person, as well as providing them with a written list, they failed to move a large amount of our possessions that we then had to move ourselves the next day (including several large boxes, pot plants, a TV and DVD player). They misplaced several bags containing clothing and bedding (which we believe they accidentally dumped at the tip). We have also since found out that , rather than dropping several large furniture items and appliances to a second-hand shop as Conway agreed, he then just took them straight to the tip. Furthermore, they left large puddles of water and mud in our previous house. All in all, a stressful experience-not relaxing at all!!

Conway and Darren made the move enjoyable.

Moving not just the content of a house, but of a lifestyle block with too many items to list, is not an easy task.

They took care of delicate items such as oil paintings and glass.

Office furniture, Kitchen appliances were handled without a single scratch.

They did not baulk at hauling heavy work benches, and machinery.

Above all I felt supported by their positive attitude, their courtesy, their genuine smiles.

I was not terribly organized - they adapted to what was needed.

Doing overtime (a 14 hrs day) they did not lift an eye brow.

Unloading in the pouring rain - they just worked faster, with the same care.

At the other end they did not just unload, but made sure the washing machine & the fridge were connected. That boxes were in the correct rooms.

The price was extremely reasonable, less than I expected. They were like a breath of fresh air in a difficult situation. If/when I move again I would have none other - thank you Conway, thank you Darren !!!! xxx

We are a couple in our 70's and were not looking forward to a move from our house with a major sloping driveway. !!! All our fears disappeared from the first contact I had with Conway . He was so understanding, lovely, kind and came across efficient, and well organized. On the day EVERYTHING went smoothly in a relaxed and fun way. Alan was superb too and the two of them moved our entire house in a few hours. We felt like we had known them forever. NOTHING was too much trouble and so we were relaxed throughout our move. An interesting review from a supposed client. We can only conclude that this client is in fact Jos Taylor Colthurst, someone who is yet to pay their bill - a little warning to the next removals company that attempts to keep these people happy.

To address the specific issues raised: this was a quoted job, a list of items to be moved was provided but was not adhered to by the client as there were many items moved, over and above the list. We moved the TV, but not small electircal items like cords, modem, plug and attached small dvd player. As per our terms, these items must be boxed up properly. One can't just take small items to the Post Office and expect them to transport them without packing.

Bags were not dumped. There were only a small number of items left in the truck to go to the tip and these were checked by the client before we went.

As for dropping things at the tip rather than a second hand shop, that is an outright lie. We were instructed to take the items to the second hand section of the resort tip in Kioreroa Rd. They were closed so we left them outside. If the tip people chose to move them that is not an issue for us. We made the decision based on what was is cost effective for the client.

Puddles in the house.. it was pouring on the 27th of June, (the house is on an incredibly steep driveway, which was very difficult to get up). We are removalists and try to keep houses and furniture dry but we are not cleaners, they come in after us.

And leaving things behind.. The place wsa not packed properly and the client left the premises within half an hour of hour arrival for the load up. She was not there when we loaded, then complains that we left things behind. In fact the truck was filled well beyond what was listed to be taken.

No mention fromm the client of the piano we had to move in very steep and slippery conditions. The driveway we had to prune for 20 minutes in order to access the house, finding owners and moving neighbours car that was in the pathway- there were no extra charges for all that extra work.

This is the type of client I recommend other removalists avoid.

These people will go the extra mile. Nothing was too much trouble and “no” or “can’t” are not in their vocabulary .Our moving day was 18th December ( don’t recommend that) which put added stress on everyone. Thank goodness it was a fine day because half our furniture had to offloaded in the driveway while Conway returned for a second load and I sat waiting for the bank to pull finger which would release the house keys. After a 15hr day we got there and I can’t speak too highly about Relax & Move.
